This boarding school in beautiful Bonn - Germany's ex capital - has a truly fantastic location on River Rhine as you can see in this video. The school has a huge park that borders directly on the Rhine, probably the most famous river in Germany. The Bonn Museum Mile is also very close by. The Ernst-Kalkuhl Gymnasium is a co-educational day and boarding school with around 650 pupils. 80 of them are boarders who live in beautifully restored historical buildings. In addition to academically excellent teaching, the school offers very attractive extracurricular activities in the fields of sport, technology, art and music.

The School
... was founded in 1880 and has always been owned and managed by family Kalkuhl-Heel. Today the school has 650 students, 230 of them locals and 80 boarders (45% German, 55% internationals from Mexico, China, Vietnam, South Korea, Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Spain, France). Boarders attend classes until lunch and then join a special program for boarders. Each class/ year has its own pedagogue. There are 2 hours of “Silentium” each day and extra classes for the academic improvement. International students get weekly courses of German for foreigners and special educational support.

Accommodation:
The student accommodations on the beautifully landscaped green campus are very cozy and well equipped. The 80 boarding students live in 5 historic residence buildings, separated by age and gender, mostly in double rooms (grade 11 and 12 in single rooms) with shared bath and several leisure rooms. The (day) boarding school students can help themselves to the rich breakfast buffet twice in the morning. The varied lunch with vegetarian options is supplemented by a daily changing salad buffet. The boarders also have access to a school kitchen where they can cook as they wish.
Over Christmas and summer vacation, the boarding houses are closed. During all other vacation periods, international students are offered a Holiday Care Program for 60 EUR per day (incl. full board and pedagogic supervision)
